GRAFTON: Dorothy Margaret (Ostergaard) Christensen graduated into eternal life on July 31st at the age of 93. She was born in Worcester on March 5, 1919 to Jens Christian Ostergaard and Johanna Christine (Brandt) Ostergaard. Dottie arrived in Grafton at the age of three, grew up on her parents' dairy farm, and lived the rest of her life in her beloved Grafton.
Dottie and her husband, Oliver, were active members of the Congregational Church in Grafton Center. A graduate of Becker College, she became a Certified Professional Secretary and spent most of her long career in the Law Department of The Paul Revere Life Insurance Company. Once her daughters were grown she began to travel! Dottie spent time on every continent, culminating with her cruise to Antarctica at the age of eighty.
Dottie is survived by her daughters, Paula Bradley of South Grafton and Roberta Grimes of Austin, Texas; her surviving son-in law, Edward Grimes; her grandchildren, Erika Cormier of Quincy, Ratha Grimes of Seattle, and Laura Alter and Thomas Grimes of Austin; her grandsons-in-law, Brian Cormier and Adam Alter; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brothers, Stanley and Robert Ostergaard, her sister, Ruth Ebbeling, and Gerald Bradley, one of her beloved sons-in-law. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Congregational Church, P.O. Box 421, Grafton, MA 01519-0421. Arrangements are being made by Roney Funeral Home, and an online condolence book is available at www.RoneyFuneralHome.com so those who knew her can share their memories. A celebration of Dorothy Christensen's life to which all are invited will be held on Saturday, September 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational Church at 30 Grafton Common, Grafton, MA 01519.
