GRAFTON: Lillian M. (Roche) Boucher, 93 passed away peacefully Saturday January 30, 2010 after a brief illness. She is survived by four children, daughters Pamela Jones and her husband Richard of North Grafton, Susan Mathieu of Millbury, sons John Boucher of Worcester, Jeffrey Boucher and his wife Pamela of Grafton, one sister Mary Snow of Grafton, one brother, Lloyd Roche and his wife Connie of Auburn, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two generations of many common nieces and nephews along with many other loving relations. She was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Boutiette, Hazel Birnie, three brothers, John, William and Bernard Roche. The oldest of eight children Lillian was born November 22, 1916 in Grafton the daughter of the late John and Lena (Boutiette) Roche attending school and living nearly all her life there. Lil as she was known to many, worked as a telephone operator in Newport RI during WW II and then in Grafton and Worcester. She also worked 17 years for The Town of Grafton in The Assessors Office retiring in 1987 at age 71. She then volunteered for the next 17 years at Fallon Clinic in Worcester driving patients to appointments, greeting people as a receptionist and doing clerical work. Being a senior with limited income Lil also donated to many worthy causes along with giving of herself to the causes she believed in. The greatest source of joy in her life was always her family. Lil loved to follow politics, read multiple newspapers each day and baking for family and friends. Lillian will be cremated in accordance with her wishes. There will be a Graveside Committal of her ashes Saturday April 10, 2010 at 11 am in Fairview Cemetery, 380 Providence Road in South Grafton. There are no calling hours. The family suggests donations in her name in lieu of flowers to The Grafton Food Bank, 30 Providence Rd. Grafton MA 01519, a charity which she supported herself for many years. Arrangements are in the care of The Roney Funeral Home in North Grafton.
