Doris I. (Stanley) Jones McElroy, 84 passed away February 17, 2001 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 30 years William J. McElroy, her brother, Earle E. Stanley of Upton, two step children, Kathleen A. Alix and her husband James of Harrisville RI, Timothy E. McElroy of Williamsburg (MA), three grandchildren, Kaitlyn McElroy, Matthew and Benjamin Alix, one great grandson, Braydon Alix. Her first husband Arthur Jones passed in 1970. Mrs. McElroy was born November 26, 1925 in Clinton the daughter of the late Earl E. and Dora (Sargent) Stanley. Doris graduated in 1943 from Brockton High School and then in 1948 from The Milford Hospital School of Nursing. She was in nursing for many years as a Registered Nurse in surgery at Milford Hospital, a District Nurse for The Town of Milford and then as Director of Nursing at The Westborough Nursing Home until retiring. Doris enjoyed traveling to Arizona with her husband for many years. A Prayer Service will be Friday February 19th at 11 am in The Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. in North Grafton. She will then be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton. The family will receive people Friday February 19th from 9:30 to 11 am in the funeral home prior to the Prayer Service.
