GRAFTON: Grace Roberta (St. George) Lojko, 86 peacefully entered into her eternal rest Tuesday July 20, 2010 at her home in North Grafton after a tenacious battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and many friends who visited her during her final days. She was born June 4, 1924 in Lunenburg MA the daughter of the late Rosario and Grace (Ventura) St. George. She married her husband Waldren P. Lojko June 18, 1949 who survives her.
Grace graduated from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg and then attended Salem State College where she received her BS degree in Business Education in 1946. She was the first of her five siblings to complete not only a bachelor's but also a master's degree in Education at Worcester State College in 1965. A life- long learner she earned over 40 credits beyond her master's degree at Worcester State and offered multiple workshops for business professionals at various companies and for school districts in Central MA. She taught many business education courses at Bryant College, Katharine Gibbs School, Becker College and South High School in Worcester. She was most proud of her work as Business Education Chairperson at both Becker College and Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough where she taught for nineteen years. Her many professional accomplishments include three published technical textbooks, a citation in the "Who's Who of American Women" and the awarding of six federal grants to develop business education programs at the secondary schooling level.
Grace was also most proud of her family and their accomplishments. In addition to her husband she leaves her daughter Roberta J. Lojko of Ware and her son Stephen W. Lojko and his wife Kerry (Smith) of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. Grace was the youngest of five siblings, Christiana Sawyier of Cherry Hill NJ, Carmella Marco of Lunenburg, Alphonse St. George of Rocky Hill CT, Rose Padula of State College PA all of whom have predeceased her.
Mrs. Lojko was a world traveler, an avid reader, a gardener, and loved to entertain her family and friends at their beautiful home. A woman of great faith she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Worcester and she traveled twice to Medjugorje in the former Yugoslavia. She was so moved by her experiences there she became active in the efforts here to bring people back to the Catholic faith specifically the devotion of The Blessed Virgin Mary. She also attended local prayer groups and enjoyed many services at the Worship Center dedicated to The Blessed Virgin at Temp Flex in South Grafton. The family suggests Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers to VNA Care Hospice, Development Fund, 120 Thomas St. Worcester MA 01608.
